"In April 2015, I had the opportunity to care for Jamie Crane Mauzy in the ICU at Vancouver General Hospital after she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). In this day and age of modern technology, we are able to precisely fine tune the management of TBI patients with advanced technology but the loving devotion, support and comfort from patients' families remains invaluable in the recovery of patients. TBI is a disease which requires tremendous support in both the acute period following injury but also during rehabilitation. I witnessed unparalleled bedside support from Jamie's family during her illness and their efforts undoubtedly were a major determinant in her excellent outcome. Having the ability to have loved ones at the patient's bedside is of immense importance for this complex patient population. First Family Flight provides opportunities to support families during this difficult time and facilitate improved patient care."
